# How do I open a payment account on the Spendbase platform?
**Eligibility requirements**
• Be a legally registered business in the United States. Supported entity types include:
\- Non-publicly traded companies (LLC, C-Corp, S-Corp)
\- Publicly traded companies
\- Sole proprietorships
\- Nonprofit organizations
• Operate within permitted business sectors.
• All beneficial owners, controlling persons, and authorized signers must be at least 18 years old.
• The company and its owners must not be subject to sanctions (such as OFAC) or located in prohibited jurisdictions.
**Activation steps**
1\. Log in/Sign up: Access your Spendbase account.
2\. Go to Money tab: Click ‘Get Started’ to begin the application.
3\. Submit company info: Provide your company’s legal name, EIN, U.S. business address, and details of beneficial owners and controlling officers.
**Documentation preparation**
Be prepared to provide relevant company documents at each step, such as formation documents, proof of address, and personal identification for beneficial owners, controlling persons, and authorized signers.
**Verification process**
After you submit your application, it will be reviewed as part of our verification process. This typically takes up to 36 hours.
You’ll receive both an email and an in-platform notification once a decision is made.
